AAP headquarters attacked, BJP blamed

GHAZIABAD: Slogan shouting activists of Hindu Raksha Dal (HRD), a right-wing group, attacked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) head office in Kaushabmbi with bricks and stones over AAP leader Prashant Bhushan’s remark on Kashmir.

Bhushan had recently said, a referendum should be carried out in Kashmir to decide on deployment of army to deal with security threats there.

Around 40 men rampaged the headquarters breaking flower pots, tearing party posters and smashing glass doors. No one has been injured in the attack.

Criticising Bhushan’s remark, Pinky Choudhary, HRD national convenor, said they regretted the plight of Hindus in the valley adding that they have staged their protest today.

Police said there was no security at the party office but policemen have now been deployed both at the rampaged office and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office, a kilometre away, adding that they will convince the new minister on the need for adequate protection.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Kumar Vishwas blamed BJP for the violence saying it was frustrated over Delhi Assembly results. “This is the problem with BJP’s working. If they come to power , they will allow no none to speak. “ he added.

On Bhushan’s remarks, he said “we have said it already that Bhushan’s view is not that of the party and we are against referendum, well understanding the problems of Kashmiris who live exiled in their own country.”

Responding to the blame for attack, BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said “ I do not have complete information. However, this sort of incident cannot be justified.
